Mission Statement
"To provide personal financial services in a caring, committed and family-oriented environment."
CGFCU History
CGFCU was started in 1975 by a group of teachers from the Columbia County School District in Hudson, NY. The founders were members of the original Columbia County Schools Federal Credit Union, which was limited to employees and retirees of their local School District and Board of Education. In 1980, membership was expanded to include Greene County and the name was changed to Columbia-Greene Public Employees Federal Credit Union. In 1988, the credit union became known by its current name - Columbia-Greene Federal Credit Union (CGFCU). Today, CGFCU's expanded membership serves a large and diverse population - including more than 75 select employer groups and 4700 members - and handles more than $26 million in assets.
Member-Owned/Not-For-Profit
CGFCU is owned by its members. After operating expenses are deducted, earnings are returned to members in the form of higher dividends, lower loan rates, and additional products and services.
